Have you watched our videos about your children’s gymnastics club yet?

Every week we work hard to bring you a new video to watch about Flair gymnastics and the different elements that make up our story. Our gymnastics videos help you find out more about our clubs and all the experiences we can offer your child. We think our videos are a lot of fun and we hope that watching them will make you want to join the Flair family! I caught up with Hector Pitt, the young man behind the camera who captures all the action at our gymnastics clubs in Surrey.

BEHIND THE CAMERA

Did you do freerunning as a child?
I started freerunning at the age of 13 after watching a series of videos on the internet.”

Do you have any brothers or sisters?
I’ve got a brother called Rufus who is 16.”

We love animals at Flair. Do you have any pets?
I’ve got a cat called Puff, I’m not sure what breed he is but he’s the size of a small dog.”

What do you like most about coaching at Flair?
“I enjoy inspiring the children and seeing their skills grow over the weeks and months. I also like the events. At the last event we encouraged all the family to get involved in freerunning and that was a lot of fun for everyone!”

What is your favourite sports related film that inspires you and why?
‘Banlieue 13’ has got to be one of my favourite films – the chase sequence at the beginning of the film was one of the first times I saw someone doing freerunning and it definitely inspired me to try it myself.”

Who is your favourite freerunner that inspires you and why?
I don’t necessarily have a favourite freerunner, but I have a huge amount of respect for the first generation of freerunners as they had nobody to look up to for inspiration or advice yet still managed to get to an immensely high level of skill.”

Can you tell us more about how you go about filming a short video for Tumble TV?
Before you film any video you should have a clear idea of what you want the story to be. Sometimes this story can change as the shooting of the video progresses, but it’s essential to have an idea as a starting point for any narrative. Once you know what story you’re going to tell you can go about shooting the video. Before you start filming, choose who you think would be most suitable to feature in this particular video. Keep your eyes open for candid moments that will help to progress the narrative of your story. As you go through filming your story review the footage you have and compare it to your initial idea so that when you come to post-production (editing clips and adding music) you will have all the necessary footage you need and can successfully tell the story that you are trying to convey. The addition of music helps to create atmosphere and text on the screen helps to punctuate the story!”
