Brilliant news – it has just been announced that Flair Gymnastics Founder & CEO Richard Dwyer has won the ‘Outstanding Service to Sport’ Award for Guildford at the Sport Guildford Awards. Read on to find out the latest scoop…
The evening was a celebration of Guildford’s sporting community from players through to coaches and volunteers and celebrated a diverse array of sports including speed skating, boxing and of course gymnastics all based in Guildford. Sport Guildford hosted the event in partnership with Guildford Borough Council.
The Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to recognise and reward talent, achievement and commitment to sport in Guildford over the past 12 months.

RICHARD DWYER (FLAIR FOUNDER & CEO)
Richard Dwyer beat off some tough competition in order to make the regional shortlist and was delighted to be announced as the winner of the ‘Outstanding Service to Sport Award,’ sponsored by Specsavers. Richard was recognised for the energy and passion that he brings to coaching children inspiring them to achieve their full potential in gymnastics. Winners from each region will now go forward to Active Surrey’s county level ceremony, where judges will decide who deserves the honour of being named the best in Surrey.
NICK RUDDOCK & RICHARD DWYER
Richard was nominated by Nick Ruddock (High Performance and Former National Coach) who was one of the first Flair coaches and continues to support Flair by contributing to the coaching development programme. Nick says,
“It’s not often you get to meet someone with such energy and passion for sport. Someone who inspires the children, the parents and the coaches to become the very best possible versions of themselves. It’s wonderful to see Richard inspiring the next generation of coaches in the same way he inspired me back when I was starting out as a coach. I love contributing to this forward thinking company and believe that Richard should be recognised for his huge contribution and outstanding service to sport. He has introduced thousands of young people to the sport of gymnastics, he continues to train, mentor and inspire 100’s of coaches each year and the positive support that his clubs give to parents is truly outstanding.”

“I’m thrilled to have won the ‘Outstanding Service to Sport Award’ for Guildford. As we celebrate our 20th Birthday this year it’s an exciting time for Flair as we continue to introduce 10s of 1000s of children to the sport of gymnastics and help their confidence to sky rocket!”
Cllr Iseult Roche, Lead Councillor for Community Health, Wellbeing and Project Aspire says,
“It’s fantastic to see so many sporting achievements this year and to such a high standard. The sporting community in Guildford is thriving with dedicated coaches and volunteers helping develop young talent. It’s amazing to see how accessible sport is for the local community in Guildford. A big congratulations to all those who won an award this evening.”
