Have you been watching Celebrity Masterchef recently? It’s great viewing, isn’t it? When I saw Jim Moir taking part last week it brought back happy memories for me as I remembered working with him on a TV commercial years ago. He’s a pretty good cook too, by the looks of things, although there were a few weird flavour combinations. Orange and egg, anyone?!! It may seem unlikely that the comedian Vic Reeves, otherwise known by his real name of Jim Moir, would ever require a stunt double but I promise you there was a time when he did…

Back in 1997 when I was just a couple of years into my stunt career I got cast as the stunt double for Jim Moir in a TV commercial for Mercury One-2-One phones. This was the one where they asked a selection of celebrities, “Who would you most like to have a one-2-one with?” Vic Reeves said he’d like to have a one-2-one with the actor Terry Thomas. There was a huge photograph of Terry Thomas on the screen and Vic Reeves flew through the famously big gap between his front teeth. But that wasn’t Vic Reeves flying, THAT WAS ME!! This was the first time that I had been cast as a stunt double and it wasn’t the last. It makes me laugh when I think back to who I have doubled in the past as I don’t think there are any that I particularly resembled. I doubled Dale Winton on ‘The Other Half’ (yes, really!! See my contract below!), the actor Kelvin Fletcher who plays Andy Sugden in ‘Emmerdale’ (back when he was a skinny youngster!), as well as Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s film, ‘Dark Shadows’ to name just a few. Happy days!

Now I have made the decision to move on from the stunt world so that I can focus all my energy on making our gymnastics clubs in Surrey as top notch as they can possibly be, constantly pushing them forward to the next level. We all work really hard to give you that extra bit of magic and sparkle and we hope that you are enjoying being part of your child’s gymnastics adventures!
